November Newsletter

Dear Hunters Glen Families,

A big thank you to those families who were able to have a conference with your child’s teacher.  Such valuable information is shared at these times and we appreciate you taking the time to learn about your child’s progress, successes, and areas to grow.  Our next whole school conference day is February 13th. In the meantime, myself and all our teachers are here to answer questions or lend support; please don’t hesitate to contact us.  The best way to contact us is by phone or email. All teachers have a contact link on the school website that sends them an email directly.

All teachers in the building are introducing SLANT to students so all students know appropriate behavior during direct teaching time.  SLANT stands for:

S - sit up
L - listen
A - ask/answer questions
N - nod your head (to show understanding)
T - track the speaker

All students will be expected to learn and follow this new protocol in their classroom so disruptions are limited and students can learn from the great instruction our teachers are providing.

We are happy that so many of our students participate in the before and after school activities provided by our teachers.  However, going forward, only students who have turned in a permission slip and are grade eligible for that activity will be allowed to attend.  Siblings and friends who are either in a grade that is not eligible for the activity and/or do not have a permission slip will not be allowed to stay for the activity.  Adequate supervision cannot be guaranteed during these activities as the teacher’s job is to provide supervision and instruction for those students who have a permission slip and are participating in the activity.

The Hunters Glen PTO is bringing Opera Colorado to our school to perform Hansel and Gretel for our students.  This is especially exciting as a Hunters Glen Alum, Eric McConnell, is a member of Opera Colorado’s Artist in Residence program and will be performing for us.  We feel this a great opportunity for our students to experience an opera in a kid friendly atmosphere. Opera Colorado will be visiting Hunters Glen on Friday, November 16th.   AM Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades’ performance will be at 9:30. All other grades and classes will watch the performance at 1:00.

Thank you for all your support.  Please never hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or clarification.

Sincerely,

Christopher J. Blados, Principal
Hunters Glen
