November 2020 Newsletter

Dear Hunters Glen Families,

November is upon us in this crazy year already!  We want to thank all of our students and families for their partnership and willingness to work with us as we navigate this school year.  Due to Thanksgiving and Winter Break we only have 6 more weeks of school this semester!  Also, as a reminder, there is no school on November 11th in honor of Veterans Day.

As the weather continues to change, we are reminded that it is normal for runny noses and coughs to appear for various reasons.  Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are asking all families to take extra precautions in regards to various health symptoms.  PLEASE - if your child is showing any symptoms, please call the office and keep them home.  If you are unsure, our health aide or a district nurse will walk you through the process and will answer any questions you may have.

According to the CDC, most children with COVID-19 have mild or no symptoms.  While the most common symptoms in children are a fever or cough, children can have any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Nasal congestion or runny nose

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Diarrhea

  • Nausea or Vomiting

  • Stomachache

  • Tiredness

  • Headache

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Poor appetite

As you can see, most of the above symptoms are common for a variety of illnesses, which makes this so challenging.  Again, we ask that you call us if your child has any of the above symptoms and keep them home until recommended to return by the school or district.  As a reminder, any potential changes in the learning model due to COVID-19 will be decided and shared by the district.

If your teacher hasn’t already, all classroom teachers will be reaching out to you about a check-in regarding your student soon.  If you are comfortable with the communication that your teacher has provided, there is no need to meet.  However, each teacher is available if you would like to meet for a quick, 10 minute update about your child.

On behalf of the Hunters Glen Staff, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!   If you ever have any questions, concerns, or points of clarification, please never hesitate to contact the school.  Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Christopher J. Blados, Principal
Hunters Glen Elementary
