September 2021 Newsletter
Dear Hunters Glen Families!
We are off and into September already! Thank you for a great start to the school year. We are beyond excited that we have been able to start the school year in person and are returning to more ‘normal’ activities. Thank you to those families who have followed our health and safety guidelines and we ask that you continue to do that so that each student can enjoy in person learning as safely as possible this school year.
Thank you to those families that are adhering to our Parking Lot and Hug and Go Rules. Those rules and procedures are in place to ensure student safety and to try to limit parking lot movement until most students are gone. As a reminder, you can not leave your car unattended at Hug and Go - there is no parking, just stopping allowed. Also, please adhere to the posted safety signs on the street, including the No U-Turn sign and please remember that it is state law that you MUST yield to pedestrians at both of our crosswalks. We have had a lot of new students since the start of the school year, so please see the map later in this newsletter for additional clarification.
The PTO Boosterthon Fun Run will be September 9th! Information has been sent home this week. Based on positive feedback from students and families, we are excited to bring this fundraiser to school. The theme this year is Sports, City, Worldwide. This theme promotes the skills Curiosity, Practice, Humility, Confidence, and Endurance The Boosterthon Fun Run will be the PTO’s only large fundraiser for the entire year. Please support our PTO as much as you are able to - we know COVID has affected each family differently. PTO purchases items for teachers, such as classroom rugs, pencil sharpeners, and website subscriptions. PTO also provides funding for field trips, extra curricular programs, and assemblies. They cannot provide this without the support from our community - thank you for your continued generous support, it is greatly appreciated!
Hunters Glen loves our students! It is very important that students arrive at school on time daily. As soon as the bell rings, teachers are starting class with a Connection Circle, where we welcome students in for the day, allow students to share, and show each other that we care. We have noticed that this is a great way to start the day, as it allows students to have a successful transition from home. While we do understand that isolated events or appointments do happen, please make every effort to have your child attend school each day and arrive on time.
Hunters Glen has several ways that we communicate with families. Our official messaging system emails the primary email that is in Infinite Campus. This message system is the way we send out important building announcements and updates. We also use ClassDojo and the Hunters Glen Facebook Page to send out reminders, helpful hints, etc. ClassDojo is a free app or website, and in addition to being able to communicate directly with your teacher, you can track your child’s behavior. Talk to your child’s teacher if you don’t have an account. The Hunters Glen Facebook page is great for reminders and other pieces of information that may be of importance to you.
Thank you for your continued partnership in educating your child. We are well aware that we have a great community of support and appreciate that so much!
