May 2018 Newsletter
Dear Hunters Glen Families,
We want to thank all of our families and students for a great school year! While the end of the year is quickly approaching, there is still a lot of valuable learning occurring in classrooms and it is important your child is in attendance. In addition to the learning, we do have important dates and fun activities planned in May as well. Please refer to the attached calendar within this newsletter for all of the dates.
While it is bittersweet, we want to thank and recognize Mrs. Michele Wiles for her service as a teacher at Hunters Glen Elementary for the last 26 years. Mrs. Wiles has decided to retire at the conclusion of the school year. If you know Mrs. Wiles, you know that HGE will miss her caring, kind-hearted, and wonderful teaching skills in the classroom. Please take a moment to wish Mrs. Wiles well when you see her.
Adams 12 Schools is moving to an online check-in system for returning families for next school year. Please note that if your child currently attends HGE and you are in our boundaries, your child will continue to be enrolled at HGE and you DO NOT need to register again but you will need to do an online check-in. This new check-in system will allow you to electronically update contact information, complete some of the beginning of the year forms, etc. In order to access this, you must have a parent portal account (same account in which you check grades and attendance). If you do not have this, you can call the office to receive your child’s ID number so you can create an online portal account. The window for the online check-in is June 11th-August 12th. Class lists will no longer be posted on the windows of the school. On August 4th, if you have completed the check-in process, you will be able to log in to your account and learn your child’s teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. Additionally, we will no longer be providing paper copies of the HGE Student Handbook. The handbook is always available on our website and the 2018-2019 edition will be on the website in August.
On a personal note, I want to thank everyone for a wonderful first year at Hunters Glen. Throughout the entire school year, I have felt welcomed and a valued; it is truly a privilege to serve as Principal of Hunters Glen. Having said that, I truly believe in growth for all: students, staff, and myself. Please don’t hesitate to contact me about something you feel we can improve. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or points of clarification, please never hesitate to call the school. Thank you for your support!
