May 2019 Newsletter
Dear Hunters Glen Families,
Another school year is coming to a close. We want to thank all of our families for their consistent support throughout this school year! While school is wrapping up, we do still have a lot of great work to do to finish the year strong. Please encourage your child to continue to work hard to end the year on a great note!
I also want to thank all of the families that took our Family Survey in February. Your feedback is valued and important to us. Our teacher leadership team reviewed the survey and comments and are working on making some changes based on the feedback from the survey. Thank you for taking the time to complete it.
It is bittersweet that we will be losing an additional 5 teachers to retirement. Congratulations to Mrs. Buchan, Ms. Bredl, Mrs. Darvill, Mrs. Dunne, and Mrs. Farzam. Words cannot express the amount of knowledge, skill, compassion, and ability we will be losing. While they will be missed, we wish them well in retirement and their future endeavors! Please take a moment this month to congratulate and thank our retirees.
A reminder that the district will once again be doing an online check in at the beginning of the year through the Parent Portal. While we do not have the exact date from the district yet, parents with a portal account will be able to log on in August before school starts to see their child’s teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. This is the only way for you to find out your child’s teacher. If you can view grades and attendance for your child, then you already have a portal account.
We want to thank our community for passing both the 2016 Bond and the 2018 School Levy. Over the summer, construction will be occurring at Hunters Glen. An additional letter will be coming home soon highlighting the main improvements as a result of the 2016 Bond passage. Hunters Glen is also receiving a full time Social Emotional Learning coach and half-time intervention teacher to work with our students. The Social Emotional Learning Coach will work with both teachers and students to help improve building systems, behaviors, and to provide additional support for those students who need it. Our interventionist will work with select students in reading and math to help them grow. We are excited for both of these positions, which were created when the community passed the 2018 Levy. Thank you for supporting Hunters Glen and Adams 12!
On behalf of the staff at Hunters Glen, I wish you a fun, safe, and relaxing summer!
