passed, this would provide funding for the district to invest in world class staff, programming for
students, and school safety. Learn more.

Our wonderful PTO is once again partnering with Boosterhon to sponsor our Fun Run! This is
the one large fundraiser that our PTO asks for direct support. Students will watch a video
in class on September 19th to kick off this fundraiser! More information will be coming home
soon. Students can receive prizes and the school can receive additional funds even if
you just register and are unable to donate. Please register your child when the information
comes home and please donate to our wonderful PTO if you are able to!
Last school year, the funds from this fundraiser allowed our PTO to:
● Helped pay for Dwayne Reed, our One School, One Book Author to Visit
● Paid for a whole school science assembly.
● Helped reduce Field Trip Costs
● Purchased and supplied books for our Birthday Book Vending Machine
● Supported teachers with additional resources for the classroom!
Dogs and Other Animals on Our Property
While the majority of our staff has dogs of their own, please know that it is Adams 12 District
Policy that dogs and other animals are not allowed on our property, especially during arrival and
dismissal. We appreciate you leaving your furry friends at home. The only exception are legal
service dogs that are wearing their vest to designate their service.
Parent Teacher Conferences
While more information will be shared later this month, we wanted to notify families of our
upcoming October Parent/Teacher Conferences. They are scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th
and Thursday, October 9th, from 3:00-7:00 each night. We ask that all families sign up for one
slot per child. If you have a split household, we ask that you coordinate with each other and
select one time that works for both households. We do not have enough available slots to have
more than one conference per child. Our special education team will be meeting with families
outside the conference time of the classroom teacher, so please ensure you sign up for a time
slot with your child’s classroom teacher and special education team, if that applies.
The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open during conferences for you to shop for books for your
child!
2025 October
Hello HGE Families!
We cannot thank you enough for the support of our PTO Fun Run! With your generous support, we surpassed our goal and raised $22,392!!!! The support from our generous community is amazing! We will be determining dates and times for the final rewards and the kissing of animals by Mr. Blados and Mrs. Reilly!
Parent Teacher Conferences & Book Fair
Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th, and Thursday, October 9th, from 3:00 to 7:00 each night. Please take the time to sign up and attend a conference. It is a vital part of the year, allowing you to learn about your child’s growth so far this school year and identify areas where they need to grow. Sign-ups have been shared several times via email, are located on Apptegy, and shared by your classroom teacher.
Additionally, the Scholastic Book Fair will be open during conferences. Visit it to purchase books for your family. Every purchase helps us buy more books for our school library!
Fall Break

2025 November
Hello HGE Families!
November is here already, and our staff and students continue to work hard to improve! Please read on for more important updates!
HGE Family CommUNITY Night
We are excited about our upcoming First Annual HGE Family CommUNITY Night, which is next week on Wednesday, November 12th, from 6:15-7:45. Thank you to those families who have volunteered time or items to help make this event a success. If you haven’t completed the form about this night yet, we invite all families to do so. While there are options to be involved in the night, you can simply complete it to identify the country(ies) that your family is from, music preferences, and more. Please complete the HGE Community Night Form if you haven’t yet done so.
We are also excited that we will have a Mariachi Band performing during the event at one of our stations!
Calendar Updates
Due to the updated calendar, Adams 12 has traditionally had November 11th off in honor of Veterans Day; however, school WILL be in session on Veterans Day this year. To ensure our students have an understanding of and appreciation for the importance of honoring our Veterans, each classroom will have a grade-appropriate lesson that day, in addition to some school-wide announcements and activities to honor Veterans.
School Attendance Information
Along with continuous and consistent monitoring of attendance, we aim to establish a climate and culture of positive attendance. We have just started up our "Bear 200 Club" to celebrate students who have adequate attendance (meaning on average, no more than 1 absence per month of school). Students who are eligible are chosen at random each week.

2025 December
Hello HGE Families!
December is a short month - but we have lots of work to do! Please read on for important
updates.
Parking
A reminder to all of our families that there is no parking on the curb, specifically during arrival
and dismissal. Due to increased enrollment, we have now added another school bus and we
need the entire curb free for our school bus and daycare parking, in addition to passenger cars
parked on our curb is a violation of fire code. Please ensure if you are in the parking lot that you
are parked in a legal spot.
Arrival
We did get a few questions about letting students in early today with the snow. Official school
start time is 7:50 and that is when we are required to let students in the building. At Hunters
Glen, we allow students to enter the building at 7:40, as it allows our hallways to be less
crowded and for a calmer experience for our students as not all students arrive at the same
time. Since we do allow students in at 7:40 every day, we do not open the doors earlier, no
matter the weather.
MAP Testing
All students will be taking the District Required NWEA MAPs (Measures of Student Progress)
assessment in Math and ELA (English Language Arts) starting next week, the week of
December 8th. This allows us to measure student progress from the first semester to see any
adjustments we need to make in instruction for students. It also assists us in our planning and
preparation for the 2nd Semester.
Giving Tree
Hopefully, you saw the email and message on Apptegy specifically about our Giving Tree. We
have a tree with gift tags on it in our main entrance/vestibule for those families who are
interested in supporting other HGE Families who need Holiday Gifts. You do not need to sign in
to the building to get one. Again, please see the email sent on 12/1/25 for more details, but we
are asking that for all those who do get a tag, please turn them into the school no later than
Monday, December 15th.
Attendance
With the time of year, we know there are lots of appointments, special events, and other
activities that may interfere with the school day. Please remember that any day school is in
session is a required attendance day, including the day before or after an extended break.
Attendance is vital to your child's achievement and learning. We do understand that there are
appointments and other events that cannot be scheduled outside the school day, but we ask
that you make your best attempt. If your child has a doctor or dentist appointment, please
remember to have the doctor provide a note so we can excuse the absence. Doctor and dentist
appointments are considered excused absences with a note. If your child has more than five
absences in a semester, not including those excused by a doctor’s note, those absences will be
marked as unexcused absences, which is the Adams 12 District Attendance Policy.
Calendar
Our students’ last day before Winter Break is Thursday, December 18th. There is no school for
students on Friday, December 19th. Students return from Winter Break on Tuesday, January
6th.
Link to Hunters Glen Calendar - this link takes you to the HGE Calendar on our school website

that this list will update as more clubs are approved. Please click on the heading of this section
above to access the list.
Link to PTO Website
The next PTO Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16th at 3:45 in the School
Conference Room. We hope to see you there!
Holiday Shop - due to rising prices on items and the difficulty of finding enough volunteers to
staff the Holiday Shop, PTO has decided not to host the holiday shop this year, as we have
done in the past.
Please check out our PTO website for information on meeting dates (coming soon), contact
information, and fundraising opportunities. Did you know that all fundraisers on the website
cost our families nothing! We collect Longmont Dairy MilkCaps and benefit from any Box
Tops scanned! Additionally, if you purchase from American Furniture Warehouse and tell them

Soopers Card to HGE, and we receive a percentage of your sales! Check out the PTO website

2026 January
Hello HGE Families!
We hope your family had a great break! It has been wonderful to welcome our students back this week!
Thank you to Our GIVING COMMUNITY!
We want to extend our sincerest gratitude and thank you to those members of our school community who were able to help donate food for our Thanksgiving boxes and/or holiday gifts for our HGE families in need. The number of items donated was overwhelming, and we were able to provide so much support for our families. Our receiving families were very grateful and appreciative of the donations. Thank you to our wonderful community for supporting one another!
Thunder Vista Impact on Arrival
As shared on Monday, due to the fire over break at Thunder Vista P-8, we will be welcoming 4th and 5th-grade students to the Hunters Glen mobile classrooms starting on Monday, January 12th. We will be sharing additional information later this week in preparation as we continue to work through this change. Please pay attention to these important arrival notes:
- First, we ask for your patience as Thunder Vista parents will also be utilizing our Hug and Go in the morning and will be following our arrival procedures. Thunder Vista students will be keeping their same schedule, and they arrive approximately the same time as we do.
- Many Thunder Vista students will be bused to Hunters Glen in the morning, and the buses are scheduled to arrive AFTER 7:50, which is the typical time we open the gate.
- To allow the school buses ample space and safety, we will be keeping our arrival gate closed until 8:00 (or until the buses arrive) each morning.
- We will continue to have staff at the crosswalks and encourage you to use the Hug and Go Lane if you arrive after 7:50, but before 8:00
- As a reminder, to not be marked tardy, students need to be in their classrooms by 7:50.
Food Delivery to Students
We have seen a recent increase in food being delivered directly by restaurants or food delivery services (DoorDash, GrubHub, etc.). Please note that food delivery from businesses to students is not allowed at Hunters Glen. As a reminder, if your child forgot their lunch and you are unable to bring it to school, breakfast and lunch continue to be FREE for all students, and they can simply select a school lunch. Thank you for your cooperation.
District Policy on Cell Phones and Smart Watches
As a reminder, Adams 12 Schools has updated their cell phone policy. The cell phone policy can be found here. All students must have their cell phones and smart watches off or silent and placed in their backpacks for the entire school day.

2026 February
Hello HGE & THV Families!
Information for HGE & THV
President’s Day
Adams 12 no longer has a Mid-Winter Break, as we have had the past few years. This will allow school to be over before Memorial Day in May. All school buildings will still be closed for Presidents' Day on Monday, February 16th. Additionally, there will be no school for students on Tuesday, February 17th, for a teacher workday. The office will be open from 11:00-3:00 on this day. School resumes on Wednesday, February 18th. The Adams 12 District calendar is on the district website for the current school year and for the next two school years. Please click here to access the district calendars.
District Policy on Cell Phones and Smart Watches
As a reminder, Adams 12 Schools has updated their cell phone and personal device policy. The policy can be found here. All students must have their cell phones and smart watches off or silent and placed in their backpacks for the entire school day.
Arrival/Dismissal
Just a reminder that there is to be no parking on our curb during arrival and dismissal. The curb is reserved for our school buses and daycare vans. Once our gate is closed, we only allow school district staff, school district vehicles, and cars with legal handicapped placards. All other students must utilize our Hug and Go or park and walk up. Additionally, please do not drop your child off at the crosswalk or on our street, as that creates a safety issue and backs up traffic even more. Thank you for your cooperation.

Conferences
A reminder that Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for next week, Tuesday, February 10th, and Thursday, February 12th. Information was sent out via our messaging system last week, and all teachers have also sent the sign-up out. Please ensure you select a time for your child’s conference, as conferences are important, so you can hear about your child’s growth and next steps.
Family-School Relationship Survey
To help us continually elevate your child’s educational experience, we encourage you to take our annual Family-School Relationships Survey! The survey is specific to our school and will help us know where we are succeeding and where we can improve. The survey is open now through Feb. 20. Take it today: www.adams12.org/familysurvey.
In years past, we’ve made adjustments to our conference format and added our HGE CommUNITY Night based on the feedback we’ve received from this survey.
Valentines Day
Hunters Glen does not do parties on Valentine's Day, but students are allowed to bring in Valentine's Day cards for their class to pass out on Friday, February 13th. Please see specific information from your child’s teacher about the number of students and any other information regarding Valentine's Day. Note: If your family needs support in getting Valentine's for your child to pass out, please let your child’s teacher know or email Mrs. Rethinger at ret022455@adams12.org.

2026 March
Hello HGE & THV Families!
Information for HGE & THV
March School Calendar
A reminder to all families that there is no school on Monday, March 9th, for a teacher Work Day. All students in Adams 12 do not have school that day. The Hunters Glen School Office will be open 1-3 on this day.
Another reminder that Adams 12 has Spring Break the week of March 23rd. Students’ last day before break is Friday, March 20th, and students return on Monday, March 30th. All Adams 12 Schools are closed over Spring Break.
Student Supervision Before and After School
As a reminder, students should not be left unattended before school prior to 7:40. Teacher supervision starts at 7:40, and we are not responsible for monitoring students before then.
Conversely, if you allow your child to play on the playground after school, you must supervise them. Students cannot play after school unless supervised by an adult. Lastly, a reminder that once our BASE program comes outside, all families need to vacate the playground, as they are allowed to use it. Families have been doing a great job of leaving once BASE comes out—thank you!

Literacy Night
Our students are enjoying reading The One and Only Ivan in class and the activities that go with it. As a culmination of reading this book, we invite all families to our Hunters Glen Literacy Night, which will be held on Thursday, March 12th, from 6:15-7:45. We encourage all families to attend this FREE event to celebrate the end of our shared read-aloud.
Upcoming Required State Testing
As we approach spring, we want to remind our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade families that CMAS testing for students in grades 3–5 will take place April 6–24th.
- Third graders will complete three literacy sessions and three math sessions.
- Fourth graders will complete three literacy sessions, three math sessions, and one social studies session (Colorado History).
- Fifth graders will complete three literacy sessions, three math sessions, and three science sessions.
These required state assessments indicate the degree to which students have mastered the Colorado Academic Standards at the end of each tested grade level. Results provide one measure of a student’s academic progress, and schools use aggregated scores to monitor program effectiveness. Punctual attendance during testing days is important. We encourage families to help students get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast so they are ready to do their best and show what they have learned.
Classroom teachers will share specific grade-level testing schedules, including dates and times.

2026 April
Hello HGE & THV Families!
Information for HGE & THV
April School Calendar
A reminder to all families that there is no school on Monday, April 13th, as it is a teacher professional development day. School resumes as normal on Tuesday, April 14th.
Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Just a reminder to all families that once the gate is closed to our parking lot for arrival and dismissal, the only passenger vehicles we allow in our parking lot are those with a handicapped placard/plate and district staff. We have had several vehicles try to come in our parking lot when we open it for those vehicles that are allowed in. We do this to limit traffic for the safety of our students and for our school buses. Thanks for your cooperation.
Animals on District and School Grounds
A reminder that while many of us have our own dogs and other animals at home, it is Adams 12 District Policy that no dogs or other animals are allowed on school property, especially during arrival and dismissal time. Thank you for your understanding.
Information for HGE Families Only
State Testing for Grades 3, 4, & 5
A reminder that grades 3, 4, and 5 will start required state testing next week. Schedules have been sent to families. 4th and 5th-graders will test for the next few weeks. It is important that your child is in attendance on these days, as all students who miss a test are required to complete it.
Intent to Return Form
Please be on the lookout for our Intent to Return form that we give to our Kindergarten-4th-grade students. By completing this form, it assists us when we start making class lists for the next school year.
Doctor’s Notes for Excused Absences
We want to take a moment to clarify expectations around student absences and medical documentation. If your child is absent due to illness or a medical appointment, we may request documentation from a healthcare provider to excuse the absence. Valid documentation should include the provider’s name, clinic information, date and time of visit, and date(s) the student should be excused, which may include a return to school date. Please know that notes generated online or without verification from a medical provider may not be accepted, and the school may verify documentation when needed. We understand that not every illness requires a doctor’s visit, and we encourage families to communicate directly with the school if your child is sick. Our goal is to partner with you to support student attendance while maintaining accurate and fair records for all students.

The Last PTO Meeting for the year is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19th, at 3:45 PM in our school conference room. We will discuss plans for next year and pick our PTO Scholarship Winner at this meeting. Please check out our PTO website for information on meeting dates, contact information, and fundraising opportunities. Did you know that all fundraisers on the website cost our families nothing! We collect Longmont Dairy MilkCaps and benefit from any Box Tops scanned! Additionally, if you purchase from American Furniture Warehouse and tell them you are from Hunters Glen, we receive a percentage of your sale! You can also link your King Soopers Card to HGE, and we receive a percentage of your sales! Check out the PTO website with directions on how to sign up or contribute using these NO-COST fundraisers!
