I have been with the district not only as a teacher, but as a student as well. As a student, I learned the value of hard work and determination. In 7th grade, I was only reading at a 3rd grade level and by the time I was out of 8th grade I was on grade level. I am the teacher I am today because I had a teacher who wouldn’t let me settle for being less then what I was capable of being and that is the same approach I bring to teaching. I personally don’t want to settle for being and average teacher and I don’t want the students to settle for being average. I have taught for PE for 18 years, all here at Hunters Glen. Before that I was a substitute teacher in district and worked in the BASE program at Eagleview. I love teaching at Hunters Glen and can’t imagine teaching anywhere else.
Exercise and sports saved me as a kid and has changed my life as an adult. Through that experience, I bring a passion for teaching PE and want my students to find that same passion for something even if it doesn’t involve exercise and sport. Personally, my hobbies include golf, bowling, playing softball, hiking. They drive me to be perfect or at least better than I was the day before. My favorite quote is “There are heroes and there are legends. Heroes get remembered but, legends never die. Follow your heart and you can never go wrong” - from The Sandlot.
